| Known as Smith Pre-Cast, Inc. we were founded in 1952 and recognized as a producer of quality precast concrete products. We primarily served the wet utility market with a variety of products including septic tanks, industrial waste interceptors, drywell systems and manholes. We continued to expand our manhole market and began a construction service division to install manholes for pipeline contractors. This gave us the ability to include value-added items such as site poured bases, cast iron Ring & Covers, joint mastic, etc. Along with the growth in Arizona, additional and improved freeway systems were underway. We began building MSE (Mechanically Stabilized Earth) retaining wall systems for Arizona Department of Transportation.
In 2001 we saw an opportunity to merge with other like companies throughout the U.S. and capitalize on synergies that we could create from sharing ideas and resources. At this time, we joined the U.S. Concrete family of companies to pursue and ensure future growth. In 2007 we saw additional opportunities and assumed the U.S. Concrete name as U.S. Concrete Precast Group.
We continued to grow the company through market share, diversity, and the acquisition of two companies. We acquired Reifkohl Contracting in 2004, adding customers and field personnel to our expanding construction group. In 2006 we acquired Pre-Cast Mfg, including Shorty's Concrete, adding dry utility products and volumetric concrete mixing to our product lines. In 2008, we eliminated Shorty's Concrete product line.
Our desire is to conceive and execute good plans, believe in our company, in our methods, and in the American capitalistic system of economic self-determination. We believe in continued and measured growth for our company both through internal and external opportunities. |
